I just received a call from a supplier where I was on the waitlist for the Nikon version of this Sigma Sport lens. As I already had mine, I thought I'd pass this info along for anyone waiting. I understand they have BOTH Nikon and Canon versions at this moment. You can contact them at 614-261-1264. Ask for Anna! The supplier is Midwest Photo Exchange. Good luck (and act fast) if you want one!

And there is not, it is a Sigma lens. Canon had a 150-600/5.6L a long time ago!

I corrected my post to make it clearer. It was, however, contained in the group header! IF you want one, now is your chance. Just trying to give my fellow UHHers a head's up!

Chris,

Is this Sigma lens really heavy? I have heard that it is but would like to hear from someone first hand. The reviews are really good about its performance. The folks at Midwest Photo Exchange are the best! That's where I go to get most anything. Thanks for sharing.

To me it's not THAT heavy, but understand that I use my Nikon 400/2.8 quite a bit. It weighs just over 6lbs, the weight of my 300/2.8, so I don't think that handheld all day is realistic. I prefer to use mine on a monopod for sports, but use it handheld for birds. I do plan to mount it on my "big gun" tripod with a gimbal mount and see how I like that for birds. I do like the lens quite a bit for its zoom range and quality in nice bright light.
