Last summer, quite a few Hogs gave me great advice on where to visit during our upcoming trip to western NC. I have finally finished off a blog of our trip, with some pictures, and a link to a more complete gallery at the end of the blog. For friends who are interested:

Very nice. I love that area and try to go once a year. Thanks for sharing some lovely images.
Absolutely stunning waterfall shots. Love your commentary as well.

If I was inclined to move back east, I would move to NC!

Great collection and blog. Thanks for posting this.
Too bad about the GSMNP, but it's always that way. Just have to know the out of the way spots that most tourists either don't know of or avoid because of the remoteness.

I have always found that getting off the asphalt is the way to avoid the throngs. Given this was our first trip to GSMNP, I chalk it up as a learning experience. As photographers, we understand that much success comes with familiarity. The rest is beginner's luck!

Great Smokey Nat park is BY FAR the MOST visited Nat Park in the country and has been for a long time.

Good to see you had a good time, and got some excellent photos in the process. NC and Tennessee have quite a few photographic spots as well as my home state of Arkansas. Gosh, I don't know of any state we have visited that doesn't have some outstanding photo ops.
We had a great time with you while in Haines last year. Glad we were in Haines during it's 'dry' season (early June), we missed most of the rain while there. We got some 'keepers' while there. Thanks
