Please some honest opinions on the P600 or a better not so expensive Bridge camera or HX50EXR

I have a sx50...good camera. Nothing but problems with my sony HX300...back in the shop again...I just would like a little more reach like the P600....or on my other thoughts a better built camera such as HX50EXR (I may be wroung )
There are so many to chose from. I have the reach of the SX50 and and wonder if the extra 140mm will make the difference or make clearer shots at 1200 with the SX50...I have been shooting some osprey nests mom dad and babies and I am losing good shots ....I can afford a refurbished P600. I cannot get closer to the nests as it is a protected area...absolutely no trespassing....The reason I mentioned the Fuji is it sounds like a better build.Tired of sending the Sony in with lens and focus problems.....Thanks

I bought a refurbished Nikon p600 after many years of shooting with Canon. I did it because of a review I'd read that posted photos from 6 different super-zoom photos (including the Canon SX50), and I liked the color and the sharpness of the Nikon better than all the rest. I am now so enamored with this little fellow that I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to the p900 as soon as I find out if the Vibration Reduction will allow someone to take a decent photo at maximum range. Overall, I believe the p600 will delight you.

Thanks....what I hoped to hear...Carmita has had the 600 for $254 that sounds like a good price unless you know somewhere better...If I remember the Nikon site is higher by by $150, I would be courious about the 900 and how fast the autofocus is and how good the IQ is....from what you say and many people do the iQ is good.
If the 900 is as awesome as it looks 2000mm kind of takes my breath away it would be an awesome addition to your life and just think of how it would open up distance for you...if you get one please post a picture of the guys working on the space shuttle in orbit.
Before I even think of one I need to know how fast for autofocus to lock on to take sport shots...surfing...kite sailing etc
thanks for replying......have fun

Thanks....got to use a P600 in a store and they were kind to go outside with me and let me shoot some shots....first impression is mixed....I don`t think that it would work at action shots on stills....movies yes but I don`t really take any video as it has to be an exceptionally good day or a very good surfer or kite sailor...I guess I can justify the purchase for this seems to be a great price..
Life is funny what I need and what I can afford are very far apart....that's ok its always fun and awesome when I surprise myself with a shot or two that makes me smile....peace and thanks again

Sounds like you got a lemon...I've had nothing but superbness from my Sony HX300. It is a good quality built camera. Seems to last longer that the SX50 which craps out so much Canon has a large supply of refurbs.

The HS50EXR suites me just fine. I've looked at newer cameras and cannot find any that have its functions/features. However in your case it may be a little short on the reach you want. It's "only" 1000mm 35 equiv. As far as build goes I cannot say. I have over 11,000 shots taken and all at once the focus went bad. It's on its way back from repair at this time.

Solve your problems with an OLYMPUS super zoom---up to 50X or down to an inch at around $400; plus it has numerous preset programs.
(I am NOT an Olympus employee.)

I picked up a P600 last month for the wife to carry and snap while I haul the big Nikon around on a trip to the desert next month. She is tickled pink with her "familiarization" efforts and already has some amazing shots of the grandkids. If I can get it away from her I'd like to carry it myself to cut down on lens changes out in dusty conditions. I got it refurbed at that price from Cameta and also have decided that the P900 is not THAT much more capability for the money. And..., by-the-bye it looks like it's never had been out of the box. Good luck!!

my wife has the SX 60 and the SX50 (65x optical zoom versus 50x optical zoom) and I can tell you from personal experience since we did a few tests comparing the two at full optical zoom the difference is minimal.

My wife's daughter has the P 600 and I have shot it... Great little camera. But it does not shoot in raw which is a dealbreaker for the wife.

She is currently shooting a d5200 with a sigma 15-500... But will not walk out of the house without the SX50.

Here is a comparison of the zoom difference

They replaced the lens but the manual focus did not work when it was returned. I let it slide as I needed to use it. Then the 62.10 error kept flashing on the lcd...lens error which if you read is common with the cyber shot. Ok internet instructions on taking care of the error message...remove the battery for 24 hours....worked no message for 10 minutes...rap sharply the battery compartment.... nope.....and tap the lens as it must be out of alignment....nope. Now the lens will not sometimes retract and autofocus is off...It arrived back at the camera repair today.. BTW goggle error 62.10..I would have been satisfied if it was fixed correctly the first time. I may have as as the guy from squaretrade said got a lemon....I want to thank all of you for your information, experiences and knowledge.

They are sending me a check deciding not to put another new lens in....fine with me...HX300 seemed solid....but what do I know I am just the consumer. At least Squaretrade made it right....got to be thankful for little blessings
