I have 18 photos taken at high resolution (over 4000 x3500).
I sent them in for processing and am being told the dpi has to be
300. Is that set in the camera and if so how do I do it?
She said they are fuzzy and not crisp. Is Pixelation the same as noisy? I sure don't want to lose these 18 photos. Thanks for any help. I am thinking about renting Photoshop and Lightroom which can be rented for $10/mo. But, I am older and I don't grasped things as I used to. I just need help and advice. Right now all of my photos are in iPhoto.
It sounds like you sent them in either as thumbnails rather than copies of the originals; or you had the resolution set at 72dpi for web viewing, not 300 dpi used for print output.
How big are you trying to print them?

Hi,
I didn't send them in thumbnail. In fact I sent even as actual size and she said it still showed up fuzzy. She did say I need to have it set at 300 GPI, but I don't know if this is something on the camera or to set it. I have iPhoto.

The printing is going to be 8 x 10. Some maybe 11x14.
Upload them to mpix.com. That's who I use.

i would, but I am going to try and sell them. I am not a photographer for I use only automatic. But I have a good eye for seeing what would be a great shot. This may sound silly, but this is what my brother has told me as well as others. I think to learn how to use what ISO, aperture, would take me to much time before snapping the photo. Especially when I try to take a photo of a bird. I just could not think fast enough and would ruin a good shot.
I am in the process of possibly renting Photoshop and Lightroom for $10 a month. It is not the money holding me back, but is the time it takes to learn those programs. I am in fear of not using
it. I do know adobe has help for $145/?, but I asked a question
to adobe the other night and he was inside my computer without my permission.

IF, you sent the printing service a full "copy" of the digital file,(4000x3500) and they tell you that you did not send enough "dpi" , then you should find another printing service.
dpi stands for dots per inch, you did not send them "dots".
ppi, stands for pixels per inch, you did not send them "inches".
You sent them 4000x3500 pixels, period. how the printing services uses those pixels is up to them.

Not sure what that has to do with the price of rice in China ;-)
Mpix.com is an online printer. Log into the site, upload your photos, select the print size and wait a few days for your prints to arrive in the mail.

I am trying to print them 8 x10 or 11x14. I started to register for Mpix, then thought that I should tell you that even when I use actual size in an email they are not crisp. This is an EP-5 and I was wondering if 1. It is the camera settings or 2. it is iPhoto.
I am going to have to have same day service for these are going to be sold. My brother is disabled and he asked me if he set up
a place to sell photos could he use my photos and my wife paintings to sell. He needs the money. Don't we all. If I set this camera to basic settings there should not be any problem with enlargement should their.
I am not a professional photographer, but am very good at shooting photos. My brother says I have a great eye.
Can you look at the properties of the image file you sent them just to confirm the image resolution? Are the files coming straight from the camera or are you using some software like iPhoto or Picasa?
