Hi everyone! I have a question
I normally shoot with a nikon d7100 and 5100 but I would like to know if anyone can help me find a nice "keep in my purse" point and shoot that can take good photos but still small and light enough to carry all the time. Any advice is appreciated
Thanks!
RX100, RX100II or RX100III

I have had a Canon Power Shot (G9) for many years. It is outstanding for what it is, offers many presets, great macro, and manual capabilities as well. Fits in a purse or jacket pocket easily. Has a 200MM optical zoom that works really well. One caveat, it is a tad heavy for a P&S, probably because it is made of metal, not plastic. It has been dropped a few times and survived. If you wanted that exact model they have sold recently on ebay for $80 to $140. I am sure that Canon has newer models, but you will pay much more for them. PS - my main DSLR is Nikon with a 18 - 300mm zoom and I still like this little Canon
I've been searching for the same thing and concluded there are too many choices.
Sensor sizes are from tiny to APS-C, some will shoot RAW, there are some with pop-up flash and hotshoes and swivel screens, 12 to 20 MP, GPS or wi-fi, sizes from shirt pocket to small bag, prices from $100 to $1100, zoom from none to 50X, lenses interchangeable or not, etc., etc., etc., ad frustratium. Good luck! :)
Since you didn't mention a budget, I guess price is no object. For fix lens point & shoot cameras, there are a lot to choose from...Nikon Coolpix A, Sony RX100 series, Canon G17, Nikon P7800, Fujifilm X series just to name a few. Those are larger than average sensors in a compact body and take great looking photo's.

Right. "I need transportation to get to work every day." Too many choices. I limit myself to Nikon DSLRs and (now) Sony compact cameras. I don't want to keep learning new Menu systems.

I've been looking at Nikon Coolpix, among others. There are only 61 Coolpix models to consider.

That's all? I thought there were more. :D
I hate that term - and Rebel, too.
When I posted my recommendation for the RX100 series it is because I know what purse size means. I helped my wife go through about 5 before she got one that fits her purse. I thought B&H was going to assign us to the banned list.
We think purses are these huge caverns of stuff. I learned they are not. They are tightly organized storage cabinets for essentials. A camera can't take up space for the many other essentials. It has to make room for them.
Purse sized is damn small. "Good photos" for a Nikon shooter means RAW and larger sensor like the RX100 on inch.
APS-C is not purse sized!
There may be 61 Coolpix, but at least point to the purse sized, large sensor RAW shooters, if there are any.

Excellent observation.
Hopefully you won't run over your purse like my wife did yesterday...doh, luckily her phone and camera were not in there this time.
