Thanks for that Rich. I remember Schwab's on the Strip. Rumors are that quite a few "starlets" were discovered there. I Remember eating in the first Hamburger Hamlet in Westwood Village back in the 60's and the late Lee Marvin was eating in a booth a couple up from me. Also saw a number of actors and singers in Shelley's Manne Hole and in PJ's. Also drove by many of the stars as they were either entering or exiting the Bel Aire area. Fun days. :-D

How right you are. Those were the days….The building i worked in was right at that corner. Many of the actors had offices in those three buildings. I had met Robert Mitchum, and was often invited to his office to "toke up" with him. I also helped Henry Mancini move to another office on the same floor I worked on.
Rich
P.S. There were two Schwab's….One was at Sunset and Fairfax and the other was at Sunset and Doheny.
The Sunset Strip was my patrol area when i was a Deputy Sheriff for the county.

Lots of people don't know these two were both from Ohio. Born not even two hours from each other. Robert Uhrich, who is also passed, star of Dan Tana was born only one hour north of Dean Martin's hometown of Steubenville, also in Ohio. And Danny Thomas was born in Toledo Hospital although later claiming Detroit as his home base because it was larger and more well known.

Also Dean didn't actually drink. His glass was always filled with something like ginger ale and he pretended to be somewhat looped.

  :-D I knew that about Dean. He also warned Frank Sinatra about the Kennedy clan who took advantage of Frank's mafia and Hollywood connections until JFK got elected then they dumped him like a hot potato. :hunf:

They worked together quite a lot and were best friends for years. Even on Mork and Mindy. They were together on Johnny Carson one night and just about killed Johnny because he couldn't stop laughing. The only other time I ever saw that was when Rodney Dangerfield went off on a non-stop pounding of short jokes from his club routine while sitting at Johnny's desk that didn't stop for at least 10 minutes and Johnny was breathless and bright red from laughing.

Very funny, thanks for the post. It's a shame that a star of any magnitude cannot set foot in public without the paparazzi vultures attacking them.
