MEIKE Speed Light for Nikon:
I purchased an MEIKE MK910 Speed Light. Its a Nikon SB910 knock off. It preforms as advertised. I am really loving this Speed Light. Some of the customer write ups said they had some problems with some of the features. I have not. I was really impressed who well it worked with the Nikon CLS (creative lighting system). It worked perfectly when I set up my pop up flash as commander and set up with my SB700, SB600 and the MK910 as remote flash units. It worked perfectly. It also goes into slave mode with either TTL or manual. So it is very easy to use this Speed Light off camera. The repeat flash function is amazing. Works really well in either TTL of Manual. Its build quality is very good. Also, it is lighter than my SB750. The cost was 103 dollars compared with the price of the SB910 which is just a little under 600 dollars new. If there are any flaws I can live with them. I also like that the zoom range goes out to 180mm. My SB750 only zoom to 85mm. I really like the extra reach. Just thought some of you might want to take a look at this Speed Light. I think if my testing continues in the way it is so far, I am gonna buy a couple more 
MK910
Thanks for the review. Wonder what the longevity of this unit will be. I must keep this speedlight in mind when I go to purchase another one. Have a GREAT DAY!

Usually you get what you pay for.

thanks for the 2nd review. I am sure it will help those trying to make a choice. Happy Shooting :)
I have one that I use with the Yongnuo YN622N and the YN622TX, for off camera use. It's fabulous. You can literally purchase 5 of these for the price of one Nikon SB910. For those of us whose living doesn't depend on it, I don't see a down side.
Thanks for this! Wonder if it'd work with my Nikon 3100?

Yes.. any Nikon Speed Light or made for Nikon Speed Light will work on a Nikon DSLR (any model). However, some features will not work on some models. I believe your D3100 like my D5100 will not let you use your pop up flash as a commander. Also, High Speed Sync is not available to you or me for these models. Manual, TTL, and Slave Mode will work just fine. This restriction is true even if you buy the Nikon version of this or any other Nikon Speed Light because it is not a feature offered in these body types. The other thing you prolly should know is the bigger the Speed Light the more battery power they will use. This MK910 as does the SB910 use more power so you may be needing fresh batteries more frequently. If this is an issue, you may want to consider a smaller Speed Light. Even the knock offs will work fine. Example- I have a SB 600 that I can shoot all day with without requiring a battery change I also have an Opteka EB600DG-N (knock off). That I can do the same thing with. Note the SB600 is much better but the Opteka was under 100dollars. So the question is what do you need? Understanding that sometimes we cannot afford what we want. Smiling... I promised myself I wasn't gonna get into this... I guess I can't be trusted to keep a promise (sigh). Hope this helps.
Thanks, it helps a lot. And don't worry about not being trustworthy.... we all have our weak spots ;-)
If you will not use this speed light in High-Speed Sync mode (with the shooter speed 1/500 sec or smaller) you will not find big differences, except power save efficiency, AF-Assist Illuminator not precise aliment (my copy show red crest not in the center of the viewer field, assist illuminator crest red image was not in focus and that create problem for fast and correct focusing in dark light ....).
I bought MK910 and was very happy at the first moment that it looks like SB900 or SB910 and cost much less, but High-Speed test shows that it stop power up at 1/500 sec or shorter, night shorts with MK910 AF-Assist Illuminator bring me to the final decision to return it back to the seller.
Saving $300 or $400 with such limitation of shutter speed and not 100% be guaranty to have sharp images in the dark it is not for me.
I use three SB800 for 7 years and 2 SB900 for 3 years and never have bad results such as MK910.
If you need cheap speed light looks like Pro SB900 or SB910 with no guaranty results, that will be your choice.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the MK910. I do understand there is a down size to when using any knock off Speed Light. For me once I learn how it effects my photos with my usual shooting conditions I will know if it fits my needs or not. I shoot with my sb600 and sb700 and am very happy with those. For me this is a way to see if I need to kick it up a notch without laying out a lot of bucks. When and if I reach that threshold I will buy the SB910. So far I am pretty happy with what I am achieving with my copy of the MK910. Different strokes for different folks. Happy Shooting.

don't know if that can be a good direct comparison. However, below is a link that looks a little bit at the differences between the sb700 and sb900 which may give you some idea.

never heard of the company. if it is so much cheaper you have to wonder where the chicoms cut costs. however knowing that Nikon is known for the quality of their flashguns second only to their lenses, I found that buying a used Nikon speedlight from KEH gets me Nikon quality true acseaes to the Nikon creative lighting system a great price and a free 6 month warranty from KEH. Loving my used sb 800 . However my df can shoot at such high iso with little noise that I am not using my flash anywhere as near as much as I thought.
Thanks to everyone! I'm still really new to digital photography, so all comments are great!
