Dallas at Night - The JPMorgan Chase Tower

Completed in 1987 with a price tag of 300 million, the Chase tower is one of the signature modern monoliths of the downtown Dallas skyline. 4th tallest in Dallas and 12th overall in the state, this structure is often referred to as the ‘keyhole’ building because of the 6 story hole near the top. The building was designed by Richard Keating and is home to (among other things) the Dallas Petroleum Club.
The building faces the Dallas Arts District and I was able to get this shot because of the construction of a new access street to the area.

Years ago I had a client whose reception room was in the curved wall "in the hole".

If memory serves me right I had to take THREE elevators shifting to a different bank of elevators to finally reach their floor.

Frequently I stood looking out that window at clouds scudding along below me and felt the building move... Was told it moved over a foot in both directions in high winds.

Was SO very glad my relationship with this client was short.

By any chance would you happen to know if the observation deck is still open to the public?

Sorry, retired five years+ ago and don't know. However, one of the elevator shifts was on the observation desk. Open to the public would be ???

I had to have a letter on the tenant's letterhead to remove from the building computer hardware for repair. There is/was a large security booth on the first floor and if they see you with a DSLR or backpack/tripod you can almost bet they will stop and interrogate your visit.

Would make for nice photos though!
