What is advantages of a Macro-zoom lens. The same as a regular zoom. I have just not seen articles on them. I am also a newbie considering Macro, I just have a set of filter lens.
Thank you for any help.
Colin
With few exceptions (neither in production any longer either), any zoom that says "macro " in their title are not "true " macro lenses. They usually go to 1/4 to 1/2 life size, but since they are not "flat field" lenses, their IQ will drop off the closer you get to the edges of the frame.
The only "zoom macro" that I would consider a true macro lens is the Canon MPE-65 which zooms from 1:1 to 5:1. Since I'm a Nikon shooter, I'll let others chime in.
Both Scott & Allen are absolutely correct.
