Washington D.C. 2003
Another set from the archives taken with a Kodak DC290. Some may have an explanation and some will speak for themselves.
Sure am glad you posted these, Mike. An always needed reminder. You really got it all in the next to last one and can't agree more with the eighth one.

Very nice set!! So glad you looked back and showed us!!!
The Holocaust Museum is one of those places that, unless you are brain-dead, will have some kind of effect. The atrocities aside, the really freaky part is how very close Hitler came to succeeding with the world domination thing. Mistakes, as they say, were made on both sides.
Thank you Ted for the nice words. It was the camera of the day but they look fairly decent on my phone. Sometimes we need a little reminder.
Thanks to you as well Erv. It's funny that I don't remember most of what I saw in that museum but the feelings are still there.

Thanks Mike. I walked onto the Korean War Monument coming out of the bushes at night. It was lit in such a haunting way and I felt like I was on that hill in battle with them. I still get chills when I think of it! No camera that night. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for this wonderful post. I have spent much time in DC and seen all of the places you have displayed here with the exception of the Holocaust Museum. That is one place I really want to get to. Thank you for htis moving display of some of the wonderful memorials we have in our own nation's capital.

I know that there are things in the world that are done simply for effect. Disney excels at this. Then there are things that just grab on to your soul and shake it. It sounds like the Korean Monument did that for you.
The funny thing about these pictures is how powerful they are. Even with a so-so camera and almost no photographic skill, I believe that all of you have been influenced in some way and that makes me feel very good. Thank you!

It is freakishly macabre, Andrea. Some of the experiments that Hitler authorized were way beyond atrocious but I think what affected me/us the most was the huge wall with tens of thousands on names on them that the Nazi's had wiped from the face of the earth. The really sad part was that they weren't individual names but entire towns and villages.
This was 12 years ago and it still makes me want to cry. It also makes me glad that half of my ancestry is 6th generation German and had nothing to do with that fiasco. Thanks for stopping by and sharing these with me.
Was there last Spring. The choir we sing with Timpanogos Choral was one of 9 choirs invited to the Memorial Day Choral Festival. Didn't get to see everything, because of practices and performances in the Kennedy Center, but your excellent photos bring back good memories. Our performances were tied to the armed services and the families.

At the end of the day, this is one of the reasons we do what we do, isn't it? I am glad to bring back pleasant memories for you. D.C. is an amazing place if you have time to see it. 😊 Thank you.
