Worked in Saudi in the mid-80's and thought it interesting that this public sculpture indicates their influence radiating from Mecca. Look at the radiating point of the green. Recently scanned these slides, originally taken with a Canon AE in program mode. Also, only noted the crescent moon situated exactly like the Arabic crescent after developing.

this public sculptue indicates whose influence Saudi or Muslim? if the former since the world gets most oil from OPEC (prior to SA nationalizing Chevron/BP and others) or the Muslim religion?

The crescent moon is definitely appropos. It would have been really nice if you had been able to be high enough to catch that moon lower to the horizon so it would appear larger. Very nice catch as is, though.
