The temp here yesterday hit the low fifties, the snow is melting fast now, and the moment we've been waiting for arrived.

Yes, that's right--SuperGoose emerged from her Fortress of Solitude under the sofa!

She did NOT see her shadow, so IT'S OVER!!! Winter is officially over and done, history, just a bad memory!!!

Great celebration and rejoicing by the crowd assembled for the event, confetti everywhere, bells ringing, horns tooting, hugs and kisses, etc.

I was fortunate to have my cell phone handy and managed to catch the historic moment for posterity.

Congratulations to all!!

You should also document the snowbirders returning to their nests, causing traffic jams and long lines in stores, and no doubt wearing inappropriately matched shorts, sandals and socks :)

Thanks, John. Isn't it good to know there won't be another six weeks of this?

Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for those thumbs!

Thanks, rlaugh, and you're so right! SuperGoose forecasting can be relied on, whereas that Roadkill-in-training creature down in Punxsutawney obviously hasn't a clue. Statistically, he's wrong more often than right, so one might do well to take his predictions and figure on the opposite.

SuperGoose's record is unblemished. When she comes out from her Fortress of Solitude, it's Spring, end of story. Even Martian relies on her forecasts, and in early March begins positioning himself by the sofa in case she pops out unexpectedly. Swatted her right back underneath several times last month, as he apparently had some winter business still to attend and didn't want Spring coming too quickly. That is, no doubt, why it's so late in arriving this year.

Thanks for your kind comments and visit. Hope this was educational for you, as not many folks are aware of the real facts concerning Spring's arrival, and I felt certain you'd want to know.

Thanks, Linda--a great suggestion. And yes, it's another sure sign of Spring when the roads are filling fast with Cadillacs, Buicks, and Lincolns that have Florida plates, all being driven at 5 mph by tiny people who can barely see over the dashboard, and who are apparently baffled by the concept of red and green traffic lights. Or the novel idea that one is actually supposed to get out of a car BEFORE going into the store... ; )

Thanks for your visit, I'm still laughing...

wow, now this indeed a masterpiece. I didn't know you were such a fantastic painter. Glad to hear your warming up. I saw on TWC that Boston should be in the low 60's today. We (central Tennessee) on the other hand, are awaiting severe weather to develop later today. Great processing on this one Randy.

Thanks, Bob. Glad you stopped by, good to know you understand the gravity of her pronouncements.

SuperGoose never gets it wrong. No shadow today, so it's Spring, end of discussion. We can all at last put away our snowblowers and shovels, hang up the parkas, and even seriously consider opening a window again (okay, might still be a little early for that last one, but we can at least consider the idea, lol...).

Thanks, Angler. SuperGoose would undoubtedly entertain--and even welcome--a suit from you, were you a Tomcat. Meows with an English accent absolutely melt her. She's a dyed in the wool Anglophile--has a full collection of old Beatles albums, keeps a framed poster of Daniel Craig in her Fortress of Solitude, and says Margaret Thatcher was the greatest politician of the last century.

Nor does she think much of the French.

So despite her fabulously successful career as a feline weather forecaster and supermodel, I think if you'd whisper an accented sweet nothing or two in her ear, she'd run right off with you. Probably.

Thanks for your visit and very kind comments, always much appreciated!

Don't know about dinner, but when it comes to weather forecasting, she certainly eats the groundhog's lunch! LOL

Thanks for your visit, GT. Enjoyed your comment!
