Tamron or Sigma 150-600mm lens

What are to pros and cons of each lens? Considering getting one, but confused as to which I should purchase. I have a Nikon 7100. Input from others who own these lens will be greatly appreciated.

I have the tamron 150-600mm lens.{I like it!!} I have not shot the sigma.

The Sigma Sports lens will probably deliver better image quality, but you'll pay for it too!

I would also imagine the "MTshooter" is one of the few that would have hands on with both lenses!!

Actually it is three lenses, 1 Tamron, 1 Sigma at aprx same price and 1 Sigma at aprx double the price. The lower priced Sigma is the one with the least info available as it just came out. No time for comparisons of all three yet.

I own neither, but if I wanted a lens in that range, I would look for comparisons.

I bought the tamron a few weeks ago. Here is a link to my results so far. For its price I think it's worth it.

I own both lenses and prefer the Sigma. It is the better made of the two lenses and has better IQ but not by much. One of the big advantages of it is it is weather sealed. I listed some things that are different between the two lenses and you can see it here:

It is much heavier which is a disadvantage if you plan on handholding a lot. If you're going to use a tripod that won't matter much. Are you going to be using it outside in bad weather on occasion? If so the weather sealing is a big plus.

I have had the opportunity to work with both the Tamron and the Sigma Sport. Of the two, I think that the Sigma is a bit sharper at the long end. It is water sealed, well built and accepts the Sigma Dock, but is twice the cost of the Tamron. I do own the Sigma Sport. I have not yet even held the Sigma Contemporary as it was just released, in the Canon mount only at this time if I recall properly. It is similarly priced with the Tamron, but it also can use the Sigma Dock. Check out Regis' photos, they are wonderful and all shot with the Tamron. I will be using my Sigma Sport for outdoor sports soon, perhaps this evening, and will post some results when that is done. I will be comparing it to my Nikon 400/2.8, which I expect will be better. Time will tell.

I own, and shoot with the Tamron 150-600mm. For me it is a very capable lens. The price is right at $1069.00. The weight of the lens is Ok and can be carried with little effort to a blind I use in the woods. I've shot with the Sigma, and I see actually very little difference between the image quality unless you pixel peep.

Which Sigma are you using. The sports is twice the price of the Tamron. The other Sigma is not weather sealed. Hard to compare a $1000 dollar lens to a Sigma $2000 dollar lens. According to the Sigma they give you a 3 year warranty where Tamron gives you a 6 year warranty....Rich
