Extraordinary out of ordinary.
There are days when all you see are ordinary subjects. Nothing exotic jumps in front of your lens. Should that happen then don't quit. Use your ordinary subjects and wait for a unique opportunity to display them in a special way. The following four images were taken, deliberately in a very clean environment, showing off the bird, on a simple perch. This simplicity makes these pictures stand out. The last one is of one of our most common birds but because he was standing, so proud, on an embankment high enough to be at eye level, made this image special. I hope you agree when you see them.
These photographs are closer to studio shots than to wildlife shots. The moral of this story is to shoot birds in a creative way rather than just taking one more 'record' shot.
And one more thing. The picture itself must be of the highest quality. It must be sharp with good color saturation. The Grackle you see is not really a black bird. It has many colors and it's our job to show them.
I generally don't like bird shots but yours are above the rest. Well done.
Dennis
Quite a nice group, Joe. All deserve to be viewed in download mode!

Great detail. Any shot that is properly exposed with good composition is worth the time, ordinary subjects can become extraordinary photos.
