Do you have the image already open in photoshop?
Or are you trying to open an image from a new camera in an old version of photoshop?

I have had it open in photoshop like i usually do. I can't imagine what i've done! just a little editing and save as... and it says the file is not valid. I've tried to flatten it , change to jpeg, photoshop file and even the size. i think i ran into this problem a long time ago and can't remember what i had to do. I'm using cs5

Have you tried, shutting it and the computer down?

I've never had THAT problem, but every now and then PS (and LR) start acting wonky, I just shut everything down. So far any and all problems have dissappeared doing that. :-) Knock on wood...

Good luck

If the image is 16 bit, it will not save as a jpeg. Check "IMAGE" - "MODE" to see. Simply changing to 8 bit will allow you to save as a jpeg.

Try another small edit--like an ever so small crop or whatever ( you can undo or not) and then try to save....might get you there

Thanks, Frank It's always best to make a copy and work from the copy. If you do layers, the picture becomes a PSD Photoshop Document. That pictures can be oppened and then saved as a JPG copy. But let's start from the beginning. David
