New to this site. New to photography. Would love to learn from the pros.

Was walking down arch steps at dusk and took this on the run, trying to keep up with my wife and kids. Brushed out some building tops.

I'm in your backyard (Swansea, IL) but it's been a while since I've been over the river for pleasure purposes. your screen name made me wonder...were you born and/or went to school in the northern Chicago burbs (as I was)? PS cool pics!

No. I'm not from McHenry County. My last name is McHenry. I was raised in Moline, IL--and spent most summers on a farm in North Missouri. I left Moline High in 1960 to "see the world."

Welcome to UHH. Like seeing your pictures. I was raised in Farmington, Mo. Graduated in 1960 from Doe Run, Mo. Nice seeing someone from that area. Looking forward to seeing more of your local shots. Thanks

I love your Arch shots. Did not know about Marine week. I was in 1960 to 1963. I was sea-going. Two years aboard the Coral Sea CVA 43.

Nice use of scale in picture #1. Did you also shoot it vertically? Went up the arch before. Is that still ppossible?

Like the 2nd and 3rd one. I was there in 1998 for a trip for a marketing class I was in in High School. I have photos from inside looking down but they weren't too nice in my opinion since the river was flooded at that time so the water was brown. Nice Work.

Actually, it was dusk and I was limping along (Later got a partial knee replacement) trying to keep up with my wife and kids as we descended those long stairs in front of the Arch. I turned around and quickly took the shot.
