A new tripod

I own three different tripods but of the three I only like one of them. I also own two different monopods, or as I call them walking sticks. It is nice and sturdy but unfortunately it is aluminum and it is heavy. I decided to get another set of legs so I contacted MT to see what he had in the store. He recommended a set that will also break down so I could use it as a tripod or a monopod. It came today and I really like it! The tripod unscrews so you can put it together as a monopod and takes about a minute to do. It is nice and light two which is something I needed. Here is a quick description of it.

7. 8 Layers of Carbon Fiber.
Upper Leg diameter 32mm.
Max height 58.6" (1490mm) (with lowered center column). Max height: 70" (1780mm) (with raised center column).
Weight: 4.3lb (1.95kg).
Max Load: 44lb (20kg).
Folded size: 19" (480mm).
Min operating height: 7

not bad for $314, I am quite pleased with it so far! The monopod appears to be very nice also. As usual Carter came through with a good suggestion!

If you don't mind my asking, which make and model did you buy?

It is a Nest NT-6324CTM carbon fiber tripod. Yes, the legs are 4 sections but appear to be quite sturdy.

The hook on the center post unscrews allowing you to remove it. One leg unscrews and then screws into the bottom of the center post to make a monopod. It takes about a minute to convert it to this.

I have it set up using the nest gimbal head. Since I can't get out to shoot I have it set up my kitchen shooting my birdfeeders and so far and very pleased. It's sturdier than the aluminum one I like. If you're interested contact Carter, MT Shooter. He has a store online.

Glad you like the tripod Jim.

Keep in mind that all Nest products that I sell carry the full 5 year USA warranty on them. Nest products bought elsewhere will have to be returned to Nest in China for warranty repairs or parts.

I also now stock Nest's heavy duty line of oil free ball heads.

I need to correct the max load weight. It should be 55 pounds, not 44.

A taller and sturdier version of the Nest NT-6294CT Carbon Fiber Traveler Tripod is the Nest NT-6324CT Carbon Fiber Traveler Tripod which MT sells.

The new addition to the "Professional Line" of Nest tripods shares exactly the same design and features with its smaller sibling but sports larger diameter 32mm top leg section tubes. You can see all the features of the 6324 by viewing a review at this site:

I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO SEND ANYTHING TO CHINA!!

I don't think I will be needing anything though. This is a very well made set of legs! Other legs I looked at that were about the same quality were 1.5 to 2 times the cost.

I don't think you could beat the quality for the money! You can add the Nest gimbal head and still be less than equal quality legs.

This is what I put on my new legs and it makes a great combo.
