Welcome to day 71 :) Today let's make it all about comparisons ....Photography is a constant work in progress. I'm learning new things nearly everyday. Before we started this challenge I was shooting everything on Auto. Now it's only on auto if I'm driving and need a quick photo at the last minute. Let's go back to the beginning of this year.. and compare it to what you took this week. For me personally there is an incredible difference. I used to have to photoshop everything to get it to look half decent... now I rarely have to do anything to the photos at all. What about you. How much do you apply what you have learned.
All these are straight out of the camera

well, I looked up this site because I wanted to know more about my camera. I have been playing with photography for many many years...since I had my first son at 18...but I have really never understood my camera and all it can do. I took a course even in photography but just never really understood what I was learning thoroughly ...but with the actual act of "DOING"" that we are engaged in in this thread I have learned more than I ever learned in my year long course. I was lazy then but now I actually try to put into practice what I have learned since I have never taken so many pictures! I love this thread and I love you as a teacher! You are doing a wonderful job!

I don't have any comparison photos since I started just last month, so I will share a few of my Edward Weston's photographs, that are so simple but so beautiful. Won't it be nice when all of us can do this well??!

I was an avid photography hobbyist for a long time and was always frustrated because I never could understand the manuals that came with cameras....here are some terrible pics I took back in 2002...and some earlier...before that I even had a polaroid that I took tons of pictures with but those instant polaroids were not archival and so many of those pictures are now cracked or yellowed...sad!

Thats my grandson....he did turn out to be a smart kid...he is now 17...but he was such a cutie....I still dont take pictures as sharp as I want...thats my main goal lately to somehow improve on how sharp and clear my photos are...I'm never happy with them.

Mornin',

Surprising how much I have learned. I usually work with Landscape as that is about all I do, B&W,Tv and Manual also. Tv especially for sunrises ans sunsets and low light as this setting brings out colours. I would then PP 'em for even more weird distortion and enhance the colours. I prided (is that a word?) myself on composition but since being here I have downgraded my macho-proudness to a much lower level and humbling myself to the fact that there are many facts that have escaped me. Daily I practice, except of flowers and domestic animals, the themes and all of you who have given your own personal perspective to the forum have been the best of schooling for me. Being a loner, except for my Pod, I have never done anything with the local photo clubs, preferring to T & E* on my own.

I want to thank you especially Photogrl and everyone else on here too because it sure beats ''Canon T2i for Dummies''.

Jim

Hi, It is said confession is good for the soul. It can also be quite humbling (probally didn't spell that right). I thought I was doing pretty well. Then I tried to do this last few challenges. I t just doesn't seem that I'm getting it. I'm not very intelligent with tech stuff. I downloaded many of my pics onto flash drives. So for todays assignment, I can't even figure out how to get any of them back. I had a friend help me delete stuff that was just taking up space and the program doesn't come up that I used to import my pictures. So as I sit here in tears feeling like a total idiot admitting all this you all I just ask that you all keep doing the wonderful job that you have been doing so I can enjoy that. I do feel like I have improved some. Have a good day.

Ann...stick your flashdrive into your computer.
Ok..before I go blabbling, I should ask what kind of computer do you use for your pictures?

Sherrie...love your march 10 floral close ups

this is kind of interesting because I went and shot at the sculpture garden in 2005...the first three...and at the end of 2011...what do you think

p1 What a big difference in color and composition! Nice job, Lass. I like learning "together" in this cyberclassroom.
