Salem State University "THEATRICS"

Theatrics at Salem State University is taught by Professor Whitney "Whizz" White. I had permission from him to photograph a verity of performances years ago, in the film days. As a photograph point of interest, all stage lighting is tungsten 3200 K. So what you might say.

Kodak does not make 35mm 36exp rolls of tungsten film. So how do you photograph a performance in color ? You use Kodak 5279 35mm Motion Picture Print Film. Made for the movie industry in making motion picture movies in Hollywood, CA.

Remember when you looked at the small adds in back of the photo magazines. Their were adds for RGB Color Labs & film. RGB sold 5279 motion picture film left over from a motion picture, they rolled the film into 35mm 36exp film cassettes that still photographers could use for making 35mm slides under tungsten lighting.

You cannot send this film to Kodak or any local color lab for processing. It had to be printed onto another film. When done processing you got back your mounted 35mm color slides plus your whole roll of uncut color negatives.

These photos that I made at Salem State University were made on 5279 Motion Picture Movie Film, ASA 400-800. When sent out to be processed if you wanted three sets of colored slides or more you could get them in one process when sent out. AP

Thank You, Tresed47 for your observation. The film days were fine days for me. I'm duping my Kodachrome slides with my digital camera. Then all I have to do is put my SD Card into my MAC and I see my photo as if I made them with my digital camera. HOW'S THAT! AP

Thank you Sailorsmom, to do something like this is quite a challenge. When you think about it these actors are preforming using their expressions. So be ready to capture a decisive moment if you can make one. There are no replays to make your picture again. If you miss your shot it's gone forever. Just captured in your mind. Thanks again Sailorsmom for your positive words. AP
