Photography is all about light, not how good your gear is. There are many tricks to capture more light without over-exposing the shot. HDR is one, I use HDR quite a bit on shots.
Another trick I use is HSS (High Speed Sync.) using an external flash unit. The camera is set in Manual, Shutter Speed is upwards of 1/1000 to 1/2000 sec. Aperture is set for the amount of light you need for the exposure. The flash unit must be capable of HSS. Posting 2 shots below, one HDR, one HSS.
BTW - I use Sony A series cameras. Sigma flashes.

The 2nd photo is just out of the camera, no processing.

Thank you. I fixed that. I made 5x7's of this, at that rez, it looked fine. Even us old timers screw up sometimes.

Thanks all for the comments. I love photography and my job is to run sound for bands and Karaoke at bars so I get lots of opportunities to take people pics.
