Bluebird birdhouse too small

Well, put my "bluebird" bird house up on edge of my deck. Bluebirds kept coming by, looked in but did not go in. The hole is 1" not 1 1/2" so, it is not really for bluebirds as I had thought.

BUT, these little ones love it. We have been enjoying them during breakfast each morning lately.

It looks as if you will have to build another birdhouse only with a 1 1/2 inch hole. It should look great on the other end of your deck. Don't forget to put shingles on the roof.

Nice captures and storyline, and do not forget to put the wooden dowel under the door so they can stand on it.

Does it come fully furnished? Nice set.

It is best not to put a perch on the house. Bluebirds do not need one to enter the house. Larger predators could potentially sit on the perch and try to get at the eggs or young.

If you have a pet, you might want to put their fur outside and see if the chickadees will take it for their nest. I groomed one of my cats on the deck outside and just let the wind take the fur. A chickadee gathered the fur up and used it in her nest. At the end of the season, I opened the box and saw the most comfy, fur-lined nest you have ever seen. Those baby birds must have thought they were at the Ritz.
