Hi,
Can anyone please give me some pointers on how to add a signature to pictures.
I am using old version of Photoshop 6...

Thank You
Ross.

Yes, I can chefros. However, I have to catch a bus in half an hour...
But if you click on Search at the top of the page, then search for Watermark, copyright or signature, you will probably get more result than you can deal with in one day....

BTW, Welcome to the Hog!

Ross, stop using this decade old software - it takes one click in Lightroom once you set up the export preset.

Hi Gene.

If I purchased Lightroom would I need to purchase any additional software for editing pictures?. I'm still a bit confused about new Adobe software & which software is good for what etc?.
Thanks for your feedback.
Regards.
Ross.

Since no one seems to want to answer your question, but rather have you upgrade your software, here is what you can do:

Click on the "T" (text tool). Select your font, size, and color from the text menu at the top of the screen. Place your cursor on the image where you want the signature and type. It does create a new layer when you do this. You will be able to use the move tool to move the signature around before you flatten it.

PS: Your software is rather ancient...about 8 generations removed from the current Photoshop CC. :)

Lightroom and Photoshop come together as a bundle for $10/mo - Lightroom is a catalog based digital asset management system (your image files), and it has a slide show creator, publisher, photobook maker, social media uploader, and parametric image editor. It can print, edit metadata and add gps and mapping info to an image. For importing, cataloging and quick processing of raw images out of the camera it is as fast and as good as it comes. Photoshop with Adobe Camera Raw and Bridge is first and foremost a graphics program which works with bit-mapped images using channels, layers and masking, down to the pixel level. Bridge is a file browser, which lets you see the images before you launch them for editing in either Photoshop or Adobe Camera Raw. ACR is the exact same parametric processor that is in Lightroom, with a different, less efficient user interface. So while there is some overlap between them, Photoshop and Lightroom really are two different applications that are very complementary to each other. Using just Lightroom to edit pictures is like just using Adobe Camera Raw to just edit pictures - most of the time they can be improved through pixel level editing in Photoshop or similar program.

There are several ways to get your signature on an image - but the best way is either to hand-write it with an archival roller ball pen like the Pigma Graphic 2 or a fiber tip pen like the Zig Writer. Or you can scan your signature to a jpeg file, and add it to an image as a layer.

If you use Lightroom, it is easy to add your actual signature as part of a scalable watermark in the export module when you export a file.
