Can I be the first to comment? It came this morning and earlier than promised. Some have said downloads might not work. Not true. iPhoto on older Mac took my first pictures no sweat. Took a picture of my dog indoors (low light trial) and the 7200 performs as hyped. His fur comes up really sharp.

As an aside, I thought my wife was going to kill me when I got this. She picked it up and immediately said this is lighter than my D300. "It feels nice in my hands." Boy did I dodge a bullet - but I may have to buy her one. There are worse problems to have….

Back to the 7200 - the focus was WAY FAST in low light. Can't wait to take this to a sports event. Thus far it has surprised me with everything it does and I can't wait to try more stuff with it.

I was about to ask the same question.... JPEGs would not be a problem, Raw images would...

I believe that Yosemite will support the D5500 raw, but not the 7200 yet....

JPG will work fine in pretty much anything.

So a quick grab shot of my ring and I ZOOMED in iPhoto to show detail. No other edits were made. All settings on camera are right out of the box. I think it holds detail really well. No flash, only indoor ceiling light and a lamp. I can't wait to get to an event that really tests the 7200 and my ability.

It is my understanding that a D7200 raw file is very similar to, or the same as a D5300 raw file. Try a download for D5300 for your post processing program, and see if you can open your D7200 raw file.

I also received my D7200 today. Awesome low light performance. Much better buffer and lightning fast focus. I was able to open RAW files with Lightzone, Zoner Photo Studio 16, View NX-i, Capture NX-D and Picasa. Thumbnails look fine in Picasa, but colors fade in full image. Surprised that Lightroom is reported not working, as I thought Lightzone was an open source, near copy of Lightroom.

I would be interested in a comparison between the D7100 and the D7200 especially regarding low light performance. The buffer size we know will be light years better and by itself is not enough for me to go for the D7200. If the low light performance is of the same magnitude improvement as the buffer size, I am in trouble with my wife since I just got the d7100 3 months ago!!

I have read that in many cases the big difference in Nikon's raw files is mostly the camera name, and the actual size of the image data.

Back when the 7100 was new, people talked of editing the camera name and then being able to decode the raw with ACR or DCR (Apple).

So you may be right. Since the latest Apple DCR supports the 5500, that could be close enough that a file edit to change the camera name could work.

Of course JPG's always work, and I bet in the next update the 7200 will be included.

Lightroom relies on Adobe Camera Raw to decocde the raw files, Lightzone does not. So, Lightzone may decode raws that Lightroom won't until Adobe updates Adobe Camera Raw shortly.
