I use aperture three on my Mac and yesterday my white balance adjustment slider and pointer just disappeared. It is simply no longer there. All the others are but that is gone. Any ideas?

As my IT guy always says when I call him with a problem "turn it off and then back on." Oddly enough, that works for many things other than computers.

You've just deactivated or hidden it. Look for "View" in the main menu bar on top and see if it has been deactivated. You may need to look in Preferences.

Does it still say "White Balance" even though the slider is gone? If so, do you have a triangle arrow to the left that points to "White Balance"? If you do click on the triangle so that it points down. That should show the slider.
If that does not work, or if there is no triangle, contact Apple customer support. They are outstanding and will get everything back to the way it should be in no time.
Good luck and let us know how things work out.

If you can find the English comedy series, "The IT Crowd," it's worth watching. "Off and on" is their answer for any computer problem.

Try double clicking at the interface of white balance (where it's supposed to be) and the adjacent section. That has happened to me and that was the advice on another site.

I'm still learning about computers , but I'm a firm believer in "off and on". Learned it at my medical job I had before retiring. Then reinstall and then call support if reinstall doesn't work.. Good luck.

ssscomp,

I also use Aperture. At the top of the Adjustments you should have a histogram. Beneath that you have two drop-down menus....Presets and Adjustments. Click the little arrow in the adjustments window....that will drop the menu down....find white balance and click on it.....that will open it back up. If it doesn't stick, you may have to click the little arrow in the upper right corner of the white balance box.

Let me know if this helps,

Lee

I'd call support before reinstalling. It could be something as simple as having hidden that particular feature by clicking the menu in the wrong place. Reinstalling some programs can be a long tedious process.
