I don't remember the "Pacemaker" ... was that a roll film camera with front tilts and slides? I had a CROWN Graphic as I couldn't afford the Speed. I think I still have one of the flash bulb guns ... somewhere. Yeah ... The Speedgraphics were the standard of the industry for quite a while.

4x5 sheet film and a couple smaller models, including a "Baby Graphic"
Pacemaker Speed Graphics (4x5, 3.25x4.25, 2.25x3.25)
I don't think the smaller format cameras had a focal plane shutter. (Where would they put the mechanism?)

OK. I'll do that. I'll let you know what I find out. I'll start checking around tomorrow.

If, by "curtain slide" you mean what used to be called a "focal plane shutter" ... I never had any experience with those except that's the way they used to be in 35mm cameras before they went with between-the-lens shutters which were much better ... especially when it came to flash lighting.

The larger focal plane shutters worked with a spring mechanism as I recall but, no ... I believe those went out in the 30's and/or 40's.

PHIL the curtain slide I am referring to is the square part on the left side of the first photo that is light colored wood with the black edge. It is about 1 1/2 inches thick and back side that is not shown can be removed showing the inside which seems designed to hold something. The light brown part shown is made of wooden slats attached to a black flexible material and can be moved from one side to the other. It rides in groves on the edges of each side. I am not sure what is is made to hold but assume it would hold a film holder or glass plate to record the image.
