Nah, keep posting. This qualifies, IMO. I would encourage you to check out the set-ups in this forum for better control of lighting. Many of us use some form of diffused flash and more than a few are DIY projects.
Thanks Allen.

Yep! Keep them coming. If you have a flash, it will allow you to get a better depth of field at say f16, a faster shutter, and perhaps a lower ISO. Even a piece of paper towel used as a diffuser will soften the glare from the light. Be very careful Macro is known to be addictive.
Thanks Muddy, It was a challenge trying to manual focus and hold a lamp... lol As far a aperture, I don't have a way to tell if I'm at f/16. I'm using a aperture control lock that holds it wide open, but no way to tell where it's at. I know I had f/5 at 45mm reversed because that's were it's at when the lens is mounted normally.

Yeah, you might disappear from the other sub-forums here on UHH. You'll also spend a lot of time turning over leaves, maybe even crawling on the ground, hikes that used to take 30 minutes will take hours.
Haha, I've already started looking for more bugs. No hikes or walks today, it's a gloomy, rainy Saturday.

Glad to see you made it over here. If you can get shots this good with what you used, I can't wait to see what you can do with a little Macro refinement.
There are quite a few ways achieve 1:1 (true macro). Reversing is one that is used here by a number of people. Greater than 1:1 mag can be done using lens reversing technique. I encourage you to stick around here. Welcome to the dark side.
Thanks, I just got back into photography and I'm all over the map. I'm macro one day..gotta buy macro stuff, birding, and critters the next..gotta buy a longer reach lens...now I need a teleconverter. Hmmm portrait photography looks awesome.. I need a portrait lens or two..and hey, lets get that continuous studio lighting kit...
My wife thinks I'm crazy, she just might be right this time..
