Canon giving away cameras!

I came across an ad late last night that was so unbelievable I had to wait until this morning so I could talk to them and make sure I wasn't missing anything. It isn't a grey import, and it doesn't say 'used' in small print anywhere on the screen!
B&H are selling 7D cameras for $749. According to the rep, this comes from Canon, so other main dealers should have the same deal available. I have never been able to find a refurbed one for that price or even close to it.
I have been wanting to upgrade my 4Ti, on my usual limited funds. Looking at used and refurbed, and hoping for a good deal. The best I could have hoped for new was the 6Ti. The 7D was *way* off my price range...
For $1011, I have a 7D, spare battery, 2 32GB memory cards and a 2-year drops & spills warranty, due to arrive next Tuesday! Am I a happy camper, do you reckon????

I certainly wouldn't call that "Giving Away Cameras".
But do enjoy your new camera that you PURCHASED.

Yeah, I know, a bit of hyperbole... Couldn't resist it though! Basically, it's half-price, which is *close* to a give-away...
And no, I don't work for the government, unless driving a school bus counts...

Me also. Maybe there will be a lot of 7d refurbs for even less. If there is I just might buy one as a back up. Just my guess but I think canon is selling off the current inventory at cost, because of the new mk2 If I do get the backup I will have to ask Grandma G how she snuck her new lens into the house

Congratulations. Something similar happened with the Canon Pro100 printer. It sold for $400 with a $300 rebate. Whatever the reason, Canon had to think it was the best way to go.
EDIT: The 7D is listed for $1,499 on Canon's site. You got a good deal.
More checking. You got a very good deal. I looked at B&H a few minutes ago, and it was listed for $849. Checking just now, it's $999. That's the price after a $200 rebate. The introduction of the 7D II is what's lowering the price.

Wow! I couldn't believe that it would have changed so fast... Actually, that is with a lens. The body-only price is the same as I ordered. $749, which they say is a $750 instant rebate. The other different prices are probably with different lenses bundled.
I had expected to see some bargains with the arrival of the mark II, but I didn't expect to see it come down this fast.
I realize that it is a few years old now, and doesn't have all the latest and greatest features, but I still think this is the bargain of the year. I guess if someone wanted to chance it, there may be even better prices come along if they have trouble selling the last few of their old stock, but I didn't want to take that risk.

Good choice. 7D is well built, a real pro choice camera used by many many pros. Body is magnesium, a bit heavy, but it's not plastic. frame rates up to 8x is idea for sports. Let those who comment on this web against the canon brand weep. For the money, it is the best bargain anywhere. Enjoy! Had my 7D since 2011 and still use it, though I now use my iPhone 6+ more because of convenience. As for those Nikon fans, yes I do shoot and use an 800, but it takes second choice to my 7D because of better specs, except for megapixels.

This is a great deal...I just saw it out there for $749 after rebate like you said. I bought a 7D refurb from B&H a few months ago for $800! Great job! I'll bet they sell a lot of them. It's a fantastic camera!
