For critique.

I was attracted to the soft curves and gentle colors. Is there any interest for others? Appreciate your input!

A nice work Linda. I really love the foreground. The two lighter spots in the background upper center are not doing it for my taste. Don't know how to describe other than maybe blowing dust. If those two spots actually a third on right could be worked on I might like it more.

I think i could like it but it looks like work in progress. A sort of raw attempt at the look and feel of where you want to end up. I firmly believe it could be a very nice efect. Only you know what you wanted to show or the direction you wished to go in
Im not totally convinced underneath all the PP that has taken place already that there is a good enough image.
This is just my opinion so take it as its meant. I think one has to concentrate on one genre or one technique and master it fully and then move on. Trying a new "artistic" approach on a weekly basis would be beyond me. Maybe you can do it,time will tell

I find the soft curves, multiple planes in muted color very appealing, Linda.Quiet and restful.

Thank you very kindly, Frank. I'll check that out.

There isn't anything that could be described as the main subject - rather there is a selection of minor subjects, and the eye is invited to wander round the scene finding them one at a time. It's the sort of shot where you can lose yourself for a brief time, rather than quickly identifying the content then moving on.

Your adventurous and experimental approach to photography is to be congratulated. While it might appear aimless to some, my guesstimation is that it'll lead you to many discoveries that the less adventurous can only dream of.

I really like the soft curves and colors of the foreground, they move the eye from one part of the image to another and it is all lovely. However, the background seems to lack color and it is about 50% of the image. That is probably the look you were going for. I think I would like to see a little more color in the background, either the same soft/gentle colors or more muted color.

But the overall image is appealing and I like it. I think you are growing and learning and willing to take some risks with your photography. That is all good!

Thank you very much for your input, Ellie. I'm going to try to find that spot again this week ; it should be greener now, and maybe the light will be better - all to get a better starting point :)

Thnk so much for your encouraging words!

My first impression was I didn't care for it. But the more i viewed it the better i liked it. I guess it just grew on me. :)

:) Thank you, Frank. I've been trying a few more variations + I'm hoping to go back to that location this week; it might be greener.

I really like this Linda. It DOES have a subject: the landscape itself, with its rolling contours, soft colors and varying textures - and you've brought those out well here. It is similar to a Palouse landscape - it is about itself. The lines of the land draw your eyes left to right through the frame, resting on the trees and following other lines back again. Nice subtle fine art image. You can work details and colors more if you like to get the emphasis where you want, but eventually this one needs printing.

Though this is a fine interpretation as is, there are others (again, like the Palouse where compositional possibilities are endless but don't necessarily include traditional "subjects"). I'd especially like a pano style crop with top cropped off, making the trees assume a bit more importance.

Thanks so much, Minnie. I'm so glad the subtlety of the subject appeals.

I was thinking of posting a main forum discussion topic asking for opinions about how internet and other devices have changed the way we see art - or any visual image - with the nano-second impressions, and the need for high impact.

I like your crop idea, tried 16:9 and like it, though that's about as "pano" as I think I'll go :)

I also found another shot taken at same time with a composition I like better, and a couple of ways to adjust the effect.

Posting to critique and getting fresh viewpoints has been great! Thank you all very much.
