Enjoyed it.... I have that 55mm F2.8 macro lens as well, except it's Spiratone branded (made by Kino Precision, same as the Vivitar).... The only real drawback to the reversed lens method is that the rear element is exposed...

A good video. Thanks!
This is a nifty gadget that will give you control of aperture (even on a G lens) when reversed, and let you add a clear filter over the rear element up front. Seems well made, I think it's brass, and works smoothly. The price is right too. I've got it mounted on my 50mm 1.8 and going to try it on the 55mm f2.8 macro.

If you shoot Nikon, then the BR-3 will bayonet on to the reversed lens & allow for a filter to be put on the other end of it so as to protect the exposed rear element. Don't think it works with gelded lenses though, giving you aperture control that is.

While this diffuser may soften a camera flash output, it cannot increase the notoriously low GN associated camera flashes.
High GNs are required for small aperture exposures & quick recharge.

Wonder if it's tall enough for use with a shoe mounted unit ?

It seems to be working OK for Shahan - at 1:2 or smaller - I know, not true "macro".
