I am interested in this camera and would like to know what others thought of the performance and quality.
I'm not a fan of bridge cameras without viewfinders. I suggest spending a little more and getting a P530 or even a used P520 or P510. keh.com has several very nice ones in the $200-240 range.
The VF is great in bright light when the LCD screen is hard to see, and it's more stable holding the camera to your eye than holding it out in front of you.
Nikon L series cameras are your basic bridge cameras that don't have a lot of manual settings and not for people who want to learn more about photography. I would also suggest what Mark D. suggested.
I too am not thrilled about bridge cameras which lack a viewfinder. With a camera of that size, you want as much stability as possible when shooting hand-held. Holding the camera out in front of you to see the display screen while shooting will not help with stability, especially if you want to use a somewhat slower shutter speed.
yes must have a view finder, for me,if not i will just use my phone
You can great deals on the P7800 now, seeing the new P9000 will be coming out soon.
The best thing about the l8x0 series is that they use standard AA batteries. I also recommend a camera with a viewfinder.
None of the Nikon bridge cameras allow for RAW capture of images.
The p610 and p900 are worthy successors to the P520. I think the p530 and p600 left off useful features.
None if them have a hotshoe for flash.
For now I am keeping my P520
The P7800 shoots raw, has a hot shoe and an electronic viewfinder.
Pretty complete package if you as me.
Just got one and while it takes good pictures it doesn't seem to focus easily with the higher zoom. Probably takes lots of practice.
