I was part of Scott Kelby's International Photo Walk two years ago wear groups of about 20 photographers gather in cities throughout the world to photograph together. There's a big prize awarded for the best photo. I didn't win. :) This was my entry in the competition, a big red firetruck. Our group was walking near an overpass when I first heard the siren. I quickly ran to the railing, camera at the ready, and shot a burst of frames as the speeding truck closed on my position. It seemed to leap at me as I looked at it through my viewfinder so I created this final image.
The Big Red One
Very interesting. How about erasing the road in front of the firetruck--the part outside of the frame. I'm surprised you didn't get run over! LOL

I've been thinking about erasing the road as you suggested but can't come to a decision on how far to go with it. You're welcome to play with it if you like.
I had a fairly good size zoom on my camera as I shot this. The final shot that you see here was a crop, making it look more as if the engine were very close to me. In reality it was nearly 20 feet away.

I like the fact the fire truck is coming out of the frame . a unique way to show motion. don't erase the roadway in front of frame.
I also don't think you should erase the road, love how the truck is "running over" the frame!
Very interesting way of presenting Your photo....I love it
Ok, the vote is two to keep the road and one to ditch it. What if I replace the asphalt road for grass?

I'm not sure that would work as you have a city in the background but it's worth a try. Have a stab at it and post it on here to see what people think, worth a try right? :D

It's all a good learning opportunity & I'll save the original of course. I'm sitting at a booth at McDonald's right now with my iPad so editing will have to wait for a while.

Look forward to seeing it!
When I saw that title "BIG Red One" I thought it had something to do with the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division.
They are known as THE BIG RED ONE... Great pic of the Fire Truck... 8-)
