Welcome to Day 68 :) Today we are going to take it easy and do a day of whatever you feel like photographing. However I want you to try and keep in mind 3 of the basic rules of composition.
1. Have a well defined focal point
2. Always shoot with the rule of thirds in mind (picture a tic tac toe board across the viewfinder and try to place your subjects where the lines intersect)
3. The odd rule... Try to shoot subjects in odd numbers ..1 and 3 always work good. 5 and 7 tend to get a little cluttered.
Also keep your exposure compensation in mind, and your depth of field.
It seems like a lot I know, but believe it or not some of these things are already coming quite natural to most of you.
It's a good day to practise what we have learned... I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.
found this up on the mountain
so much of the snow had melted
the ski slopes were shut down
this was just pretty .. some kind of quartz
eye level with my favorite yard art
little poser
cute recycled bowling ball
pretty cactus flower
the odd rule
and a beautiful iris

Wuzzat?
Also ...what is Bokeh?( The majority of my books are in French, so that is why I've never seen that word before)
Jim, you friendly neighbourhood immigrant or something like that
Nice shots, thanks for sharing.

The intersections are actually "golden mean." Don't get too caught up in rule of thirds - it is only one composition. You can also use triangles, framing, theme repetition, and diagonals just as effectively.

Bokeh is the new buzz word. It is the out of focus circle-like background you see with low DoF. It comes from a Japanese word meaning "fuzzy."
GOOD MORNING FRIENDS
I was a little hungry and thought I would make some scrambled
eggs for my breakfast...Thank goodness I do my own grocery shopping and leave the bottled stuff to the hubby.
I think I got the odd thing and rule of thirds covered.....
Hey SHERRIE...I did a little PP...
GOT MILK

WOW..outstanding flowers!!! Way to go!
Snow Bear....Every day brings a different skill to practice or a subject or a review. Funny you should mention many of the things we have practiced already on different days regarding composition.
thanks for your thoughts...perhaps you would like to post a photo example or two....
