It has been a brutal winter here in the Northeast. I gave up on just using the feeders and planted our four foot xmas tree in the snow. Everyday I pour a container of mixed seed over the tree and hang the suet feeders on the top. The bigger birds eat what they want and in doing so the smaller seed drops down underneath and the little birds fly in under the tree protected by the branches. Every couple of days a dozen or so squirrels show up and clean everything up and we start again. Spring can't come too early for these creatures.

Very good series CMC.
thx, this camera and lens has a long learning curve and I'm just now able to shoot with the window open. I don't think spring will ever come.
Great shots. Love the cardinal.

Good shots and I like your idea of recycling the Christmas tree.

Thank you. I don't get as many cardinals as I would like, but it was nice to see that color with this years relentless snow and ice.

Thank you for looking. Yes, I usually send the tree right to the chipper and then to the compost heap. But this year I thought it would be better to get some use and cover for the birds. They hide in there from the local hawk.
