I have been trying to get both of these birds in good light for quite some time now. The Crows need direct sunlight to get all the definition in the feathers and eyes because they are so black. The little bird flits around the branches of the Oak Tree and I can never get enough light or get him infocus. Finally got both of them in 2 days.

Very nice captures. I guess I'll have to break down and buy that Tamron lens.

Thank you Bruce and I noticed, Spring is almost here so the great outdoors will open up to you soon.
We pretty much have two seasons here, Day and Night. 75* in the summer and 65* in the winter.

Good shots. I see you didn't identify the little one so for interest sake I'll do it. That is a Bush Tit. It appears to be a male of the sub-species, 'coastal' or 'minimus.' It's a member of the Chickadee family.
