I don't have one but I think you'd get a better response if your topic was Tamron 24-70 f2.8 rather than just "new topic"
Never thought I would see a subject line that was less specific than "Question".

What camera are you using & what do you like to shoot?

I have it and it performs very well. I've concluded that I'd use it more if I had a slightly bigger everyday camera bag. Usually, I load a long tele, macro and 10-20 wide into the bag and its full. I mostly use the 24-70 when I'm out with a big backpack.
The Tamron is fast, sharp, and pretty darn heavy. Nice lens.
Have it on my D7000 90% of the time. Love it.
I have both Tamaron and Nikon 24-70mm 2.8. Love them both, but the Tamaron is slightly better at the mid aperture range on my D800.
I had that lens. Had to send it to the shop for repairs twice. When it came back the second time I sold it for the cost of the repairs and bought a Nikon 24-70 2.8. I guarantee that it is worth the extra money.
The Tamron is lighter. It is reasonably sharp, but it isn't nearly as durable. If you are hard on your equipment at all then its not the lens for you.
Interestingly enough the person I sold the lens to loves it and has had no further problem. However, he shoots dozens of photos a week versus thousands and sits in the stands instead of being on the sidelines where he might get hit by a middle linebacker, which by the way is at least as hard on equipment as on the photographer.
Good lens if you are careful and don't take too many photos. Not much good if its going to be a real workhorse that's going to get knocked around.
Thank you all for your very helpful replies, I appreciate them all.

I use one on my Canon 6D (full frame). It's on the camera about 95% of the time. I think it's a great lens, very sharp and well built.

Yes, it doesn't focus quite as quickly as the Nikon version, but it is a very nice, sharp lens. (at least my copy is), My sigma is about 1/2 way in between speed wise. Tamron is the slowest, but depending on what you shoot, it may not be an issue.
In my opinion, it's not a bad first step into the world of fast lenses. If you can find Sigma for about the same $$, I would lean that way just a tad, but not if the money was too much more. Both are good, I just prefer the speed of my sigma.
One thing wedding shooters have, is an arsenal of lenses all in the same range. I just happen to own all 3 brands of the 24-70 2.8
