Just wondering if anybody has any experience in purchasing a refurbished Mac laptop computer? Any recommendations on where the best place is to buy one?

I have purchased three Macbook AIR refurbed. Best place in my opinion, the Apple Web site under refurbished.

BTW - Not one issue with any of the units.

I have purchased a refurbished MacBook Air from the Apple.com website, and have been very satisfied. It comes with an Apple one year warranty, as well as the ability to purchase Apple Care extension warranty as though it were a new, computer. I was able to find one with 512GB hard drive and 8GB memory. Which I believe is the maximum available for the MacBook Air. The savings was about $300.00, which considering the price of a new computer, with the same configuration, was less than 20%.

The website also tells what year the various computers available were originally sold/manufactured (I'm not sure which) so you are able to gauge which "generation" you are purchasing.

As others have suggested, by from Apple directly.

I have had two refurbished Macbook Pro's from the Apple site. What you save on the refurb isn't a whole lot but they're always dependable.

I purchased this one in the spring of 2011, only one problem, about 6 months ago the track pad failed. I think it was about $50. and 20 minutes at the Apple Store. I did the usual memorty upgrade about 3 years ago. Love it. I go for factory referbs in most things. They have gone through at least 2 final inspection processes and usually some burn-in time to look for any other problems. I think in the end if the referb is done in the factory it can actually be better. But,that is just my opinion.

I also bought a refurbished Mac Book Pro directly through Apple.
It was shipped to an Apple Store near me and arrived in 2 days. Had it 2 years now...

I bought a refurbished 17" MacBook. The screen came unglued at the top and I contacted Apple, expecting a replacement refurbished. Instead, they insisted I get a new one while I used the first one, then sent the broken one back. Has run perfectly for years.
