Join me for a lesson in Lighting...... I hope that we can all learn from each other, because isn't photography a skill in artistically capturing light??

I am far from an expert in this field and hope that all of you will step forward with your methods of capturing light and shadow on landscapes, macro, portraits.....whatever your photographic interest is.... Please, post your image and tell us what you did to capture it just the way you wanted... did you look for shadows and light? Did you use natural light, on camera flash, or studio lighting????

I am especially interested in learning how to get the biggest boost of color on macro...... Teach me.......

I will post pictures and explain what I did, or ask your advice on how I could have gotten a better image and I hope you all will give your input and do the same......

Second guy from the right, I'd change those pants

Swing the gang around 90 degrees. facing the sun.

It is very difficult when the light/sun is so low (shown by the shadows on the ground). You could turn them facing the sun, but you would have them squinting. Another option is to turn them so their backs are to the sun and then use a flash to open up the shadows. Any other thoughts?

Use fill flash as mentioned, or a reflector. Never face your subjects into the sun.

In low sun, when they are facing the sun, or nearly facing it, if it is hand held, squat down to eliminate your own shadow

Sher, I don't mind the side lighting, however by reversing the order of the people (shortest on the sunny side) the taller would not cast shadows on them. Some times it takes a little adjustment and moving the people around to get the lighting near even.
