2 Red Shouldered Hawks have moved into the area and the Crows are mighty unhappy. I Finally caught this aerial combat over our house.
The first shots, the male is diving in to get the Crows off his mate and then he takes the brunt of the battle to the skies.

Great capture, Craig! Those are the memories that stay with us, even if not captured by camera!

No kidding it was a blast to watch all the action. Both of us were outside chasing them around.

I especially like the second one; can hear the screech of the hawk just from the photo. I assume you were using your 600mm lens but what were your settings?

Thank you Cykdelic, he was definitely pissed off that the crows were attacking his mate and I think he actually hit one of them in mid air.
The feathers were flying. I have never seen the Hawks actually take the offensive like that.

Thank you for looking in Stephie, and yes I wish they would leave them alone so they can nest in our big oat tree.

Excellent shots; the first two are amazing, especially #2 doing a Kamakazi dive.

Thank you Sirius,
I would say he was diving in at about 35 MPH and hit that Crow hard.
He looked more like Falcon.

Hi Texan, thank you very much. It was a blast to watch and got lucky with camera and viewing point to catch it all. They were at it again today but logistics didn't work out.
