I just wanted to share my recent experience with greentoe.com. On this site, you locate the item that you are interested in and submit an offer. The offer is sent to a number of retailers who can either accept or reject the offer. I was interested in a Canon MPE-65 Macro Lens. All of the major retailers were selling it at full retail which is $1049. There was a $100 rebate from the manufacturer at the time that I bought it. I offered $940. The bid was accepted the next day by one of the retailers. I received my lens two days later. My net cost for the lens, shipped to my door, after the rebates is $793.

A few things I might add. I still received the $100 rebate and have had actually already received that. Greentoe was offering an additional 5% rebate at that time. I have not actually receive that as yet. That is supposed to take 4 to 6 weeks. The offer price that you submit always includes any applicable tax and shipping. There are never extra charges. All products are sold with full manufacturer's warranties and are not gray market or refurbished.

I was very skeptical at first and did a little bit of research. I could not find anything negative about the company, so I took a chance knowing that my credit card company would back me if there was any type of fraud or deception. I could not have been happier with the transaction.

Last, I do not work for the company or know anyone that does. This was my only transaction with them and it went well. I am passing this along because it is an avenue where other hobbyists and professionals can save some serious cash.
