Took this series in YNP last week. Never seen this many Moose in Yellowstone. Unfortunately they'd dropped their antlers and are starting new ones Come Fall...Look closely and you'll see their antler nesting head hole. Make certain you blow them up

Nice captures Robin. I do know now, that moose are kind of on the ugly side without antlers. Just saying...

I don't remember ever seeing them without antlers, thanks.

That they are. I tried by telepathy to get them to put the antlers back but they are so stubborn and said NO WAY. Anyway, thanks for looking and commenting. Much appreciated

During one visit to Yellowstone, I noticed very large cow elk. You guessed it; they were bull elk with out antlers!!

Thanks for the post Robin. Many of us will never get the chance to photograph moose in the wild.

Glad to accommodate. Shooting animals in the wild with a camera is one of the great privileges on living in Montana Getting positive comments from UHH members is another. Gracias

First time I've seen a bull moose w/o antlers also. Guess I knew they lost them during the year but never really thought about it. Terrific close up pictures Robin. Must be lots of snow there right now.

A Contraire, as of last week there was relatively little snow. Doesn't mean we won't get a bunch in March but not much chance. I thought the bulls were cows also. What a great problem to have The moose have returned...I hope. Thanks for looking and the comments
