Is your posted image captured at about 6.2-inches (Minimum Working Distance)?
I am not familiar with the look of 1:1 magnification on a full frame sensor.
Exif info:
Camera Model: NIKON D610
Lens: 105.0 mm f/2.8
Image Date: 2014-06-22
Focal Length: 105mm
Aperture: ƒ/13.0
Exposure Time: 0.0040 s (1/250)
ISO equiv: 450
Exposure Bias: none
Metering Mode: Center Weight
Exposure: aperture priority (semi-auto)
White Balance: Manual
Light Source: Cloudy
Flash Fired: No

And do not hesitate to crop! You have plenty of resolution.

It looks about right to me. I believe these types of bees are smaller than a Honey Bee and the pollen is a good approximation for scale but, I'm only guesstimating
