A small pre-Columbian Escher-like stone carving. There are about a dozen intertwined animal heads all around the stone.
Showing is a frog, duck, guinea pig. Each eye is used for multiple animals. Snake & toucan on other side, etc.
Control my Nikon Pro, Zerene trial: 6 photos, step=75, 1/20sec. at f/7.1, ISO 200, natural light
No PP, just as they came out. This is fun!!
What was your travel distance from 1st photo to 6th photo?
Next time, do not crop so close.

I'm not sure how to figure that, but about 7cm.
Looks pretty darn good!

7cm = 70mm = 2.76-inches.
70mm/6 images = 11.5mm = .45-inch between photographs. Does this sound right?
What does "step=75" mean?

That sounds about right. I wish I knew. I haven't quite figured out the relationship of the depth of the steps and how they the correspond to the numbers given in the step field in the program. I just guessed. They offer a 30 day free trail of the CMN5 full program and I'm just scratching the surface of it.
Qbert in his stink bug stack gave this data:
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-276845-2.html#4823984This is all very new to me. And yes, it was cropped to close. I was just happy to get something stacked at all. :-)

Thanks naturepics43!
Now upon watching more of the
ControlmyNikon videos, they recommend starting a bit out of focus at each end of the stack. I didn't do that. Also I now see the image tends to get cropped a bit in the process & I was too tight to begin with.
What an interesting piece of sculpture. Yes, I agree, this is fun but I am finding it very easy to keep going wrong - what a challenge.

This should be in close up, not macro. In my excitement I forgot the rules.
Looks good
I have been looking in on some of the CMN5 videos also. I have no doubt I will be downloading it very soon. The problem is, I have to many irons in the fire and not enough time for any of them :|
NOTE: There's also a Control My Canon version available too. It's said to have "almost" all the same feature.
Mac version "may" be out mid to late Feb.....maybe.

I don't think the close up section viewers (at least most of them) really appreciate the time & work of focus stacking. Macro enthusiast's on the other hand will. JMO

You can also add a tight crop along with the close up to comply with the rules and keep that crazy moderator off your back

Hmmmm. Too late to edit it methinks. But i'm pretty sure I saw a big bug sneak by him once in the past, so here may be precedence.
:-) 8-)
Congrats on getting stackshot. Once you use it you will see a number of different ways that you can control the stack. For instance, you can select start and end and number of shots and it does the rest. You also configure things like how long it will rest between shots. For almost all practical purposes, you won't even need to be tethered. Though a live view on a decent display let's you see good focus points... But anyway, the stackshot hardware will control the rail and the camera shutter.
