Some new flower shots from the pond behind the office. Sunny and cool today. Enjoy!
Great, colorful, sharp set Mike!!
I love my sx50 also!
What kind of bug is that in the first shot.... a spider?
It looks huge!
I have that camera as well and was surprised as I learned to use it that it was a camera with 101 tricks. close up as in your flowers and close up to distant subjects is outstanding. It may not compete with my 50D and 70D but for the dollars and because of the size with no lens to change, it's always by my side side in the car or on walk-arounds.
Thanks Angela- no idea what type of bug that is! I didn't even see him until I looked at the images on the computer. SX50 seems to be really capable with great lighting. Glad you enjoyed them, stay warm!
Thanks George, I love the great zoom ability it has, comes in real handy.

Regarding the zooming ability, I sometimes while in AV, use the digital zoom (2X). Some people look at the shots I get and I've been asked is that camera "legal" to get such reach in the pictures.

Yes- I've tried it with 1.3x on some alligators after learning about it here. Takes a steady hand, wish I had time to setup the tripod!

Sometimes I keep my monopod attached to the camera, it comes in handy and is easy to set up.

I vacationed in 2013 in Sarasota but only had my 50D with the 17-85 stock lens. We stayed across from a golf course and would walk over to see the gaters. Couldn't really get good shots. The SX50 would have been great. Really enjoyed out visit there....hoping to return for 1 or 2 months in 2016.
Bought a refurbished SX50 around Christmas for $190.00 shipped. It goes with me in the car all the time. Certainly not a DSLR but fills a gap the DSLR can't.
Maybe I can find a used good monopod on ebay or craigslist..could store it here at work.
If you are going to try some long shots, even the mono is not really good enough. you really need the tripod. Since the camera is so light, look for a reasonable light weight tripod that folds up small. I have taken my monopod and always regret not having the other. Even one of the wrap around stands is better depending on your location. ANYWAY..get the shutter speed up and it may help.
Great color and clarity. A happy, pretty set!
Great color. T got a SX50 for Christmas and I love it!
