I am in the process of buying one of the three mentioned cameras. I had a D7100 but returned it and subsequently discovered from some reviews that there is a problem with mounting the lens and oil around the mirror. I gravitated toward the D610, and generated some interest in Canon 6D. I am trying to get some advise in making a selection between the Nikon D610 and Canon 6D. Thanks in advance
Welcome:
There are no problems with the D7100 and oil spots that I am aware of. It is a highly ranked crop sensor camera. I have had no problems with mine.

Got any specifics on these "problems" as I have never heard of either. Sounds like some internet griping with no facts again.
I'll go back and check the reviews - sorry that I didn't make a note of the site where I had seen the comments.
I have a 7100 and it is a great camera. Never had problem you experienced.
Copper
There are no problems with the D7100. It is the best DX SLR on the market, imho.

I've had my D7100 now for about 18 mos. and have never had a problem. Additionally, did a lot of research online and inquired within our camera club and your problem of "mounting & oil" never surfaced. Lastly, there are several members who also state they've never experienced problems. I wouldn't discount or write off the D7100 and agree with David Pine it is indeed "the best DX SLR" out there.
Thanks David Pine and jsmith23 and to the other members who have responded; I have been considering a full body camera instead and wonder if there are any thoughts on Nikon D610 and Canon 6D or 7D MK 11. Interested indoing outdoor photography. Regards
have had the D7100 for some time now....No problems and I just love shooting it...It is a fine camera....Been shooting for 64 years (I started young) the best digital camera I have owned...in the DX format...I hope you enjoy yours as much...

Concur. I's a fine camera with no reported oil problems

Can't give you a comparison but I can tell you the Cannon EOS 7D MK II is not full frame; it's an APS-C.

To address your specific question re the D610 vs 6D, this is exactly a decision I had made a while back. Both are good, but the deciding factor for me was the Nikon's built in flash. It adds a versatility that I would miss not having. The built in can also act as a trigger for certain Nikon external flashes as well. I've found this to be very useful at times. I also preferred the "feel" of the D610, but that is purely subjective. I am totally pleased with my D610, it is a very capable camera.
Suggest you go to a store and handle both. Bear in mind brand loyalty blinds many, some will tell you Canon is junk, others, Nikon is junk. Reality is that neither is junk, both are great cameras buy the one that suits your purpose best, feels good in your hands and makes you smile. The D610 did that for me YMMV!
Thanks Gobuster - your comment is very useful; I may consider the D610.
