I posted #1 to critique forum. I shot #2 at same time, and its composition is coincidentally similar to some suggested changes.
If you would like to play with either one, for different effects or "regular" edits, please feel free :)
I like both Linda.
No.1 I would have cropped some off the bottom to lower the skyline. Other than that two fine shots.
I did three things with the first one here, Linda (which didn't really need any meddling, a fine shot as is, but I can't help myself...).
First, cropped it. Then threw some Efex Pro HDR at it, and finally about thirty percent Topaz Glow Liquify II.
Dodged the trees just a tad to brighten them (okay, that's four things, but I don't really count dodging).
Not better than the original, just different. Might even crop more from the bottom in this, make those trees your foreground objects, and less of the fencing.
I found this photo to be quite lovely. I did not do much to it except for the following: De-noise, Burned down in the valley, enhanced the smoke, tilted ever so slightly, sharpened, all in PS CC 2014.
Valley Edit
Here's what I came up with

Took me a little while but this is what I came up with. Some of the changes are readily noticeable and others are subtler. Hope you like it.
I tended to stay away from the more drastic possibilities as I don't think they match your original feelings?
Linda's Mt. Hood

Darn! I forgot to check the box. Here it is with the box checked.
Fun results, Randy. I always enjoy your take on the world :) Thanks so much for playing!

Beautiful, Angela. I had been resistant to cropping out any sky, but now you've got me thinking :) Thank you!

How interesting, Jim! I've hardly ever tried the perspective changing tool in PSE 12, but seems like endless possibilities for fun and imagination.
This is Mount Adams, but your interpretation does give the mountain a Mount Hood look :)
Thanks so much for sharing your vision and version!
I am not going to tinker with these at all Linda.
