Are there any users of this software having difficulty with it on your Windows PC?

I've used this tool for the last 2-3 versions, so I'm familiar with it, and have not had any major issues. I purchased version 9.0 update and could never get a good install on my Dell notebook (Win 8.1). The install on my Win 7 desktop installed okay, but most of the time, before I'm finished editing the image, it will crash.

Just so you know, I work in an IT department, in systems development, so I really don't think ignorance of PC use is the issue. I like the tool, but I've had enough problems with version 9.0 that they refunded my purchase price. I got the impression that they simply don't know how to fix it for PCs.

Their development is primarily on the Apple platform, and I truly believe they are simply having problems with their Windows version.

Anyone else having similar issues?

I use a mac and I have some crashes too. The old version never crashed. Things got better after that first update of v9 but it isn't cured. I also sometimes do a lot of work in a photo, save it, and when reopened it retained none of the edits. I don't use it as much as I once did because of these issues, and I only use it on the computer that tolerates it best. They must know they have some stability problems. They apparently did a lot more with the invisible architecture in v9 than showed up in the actual user-visible features.

Well, you've shot my theory, which is good. I really want this product to succeed, but it's becoming painfully apparent it may not. I don't use it as much, either, for the same reasons.

Thanks for your input.

I had a lot of problems with it and almost got a refund too . There is a big thread on here under my name with the various answers from fellow hoggers. I actually found the problem for me and it is because I had so many photos on my pc that Onone was loading up into the "browse" section that it was overloaded and would crash all the time. I cleaned up my pc ,{and that took a long time} and put a lot of photo's on ext hard drives and it works fine now

After 5-6 calls to tech support, and they being unable to remedy the situation, the rep simply stated that they were gonna give me a refund. I asked him not to do that, but instead, tell me what's going on with the software. They refunded my card anyway and never replied to me again. It was kinda like, "Here's your money back, now leave us alone." But, I had been quite civil during the entire episode, running many tests for them in an attempt to find the problems.

I'm confident there's something in the code that needs some very close attention. Perhaps they are looking for it. As I said, I'd really like this software to work.

I use it a bit differently, in that, I always send a photo from LR, so their Browser is never an issue for me.

Thanks for relating your experiences.

I've been using OnOne since version 6. I do use it on a Mac, but to date have had no crash issues, even after upgrading to version 9. I will tell you that I use the software only occasionally when I want to do those "special" edits. Most of my basic editing is done in LightRoom.

No. I haven't told it where they are. The only photos I have in the Browser are the sample photos loaded during installation.

I don't use the tool for every image. The LR interface, and processing, are better, so if I'm working a photo in LR that I want to use the tool on, I simply send it to PPS9. When finished, it writes a PSD file back to my LR folder. I minimize PPS9 at that point, and continue working in LR.

I use a Mac. I don't have problems with 8 or 9. I had problems with DXO but they addressed it with a great fix.

Yeah, I've kinda had a feeling the Windows version just isn't quite there. Glad the Mac version is solid.

Bruce, initial versions were very unstable, particularly with larger files - they have since updated it at least twice - the current version is 9.0.2 and it is much better than the 9.0.0 one.

Bruce, you'll find that even though they refunded your money, they stillc consider you a customer - and will allow you to keep the version, fully authorized. You can even update/upgrade it. This happened to me with v8 - and the refunded $$ and I used the v8 license to get my v9 at the upgrade pricing - no questions asked.
