I just bought a d300 but the focus bracket seems to be permanently etched on the viewfinder screen and the photos on the lcd show the same thing. How do I get rid of this? Thanks for any help.

I am not familiar with the D300 but my guess is there is a setting in the menu that places it in the viewfinder. You should be able to find a reference to it in your manual. ;)

Sold my D300 couple of years ago. If I remember correctly the brackets in the LCD are controlled by the menu. Take a look at the shooting menu, custom settings - see if there is a d7, Viewfinder grid display. As far as the viewfinder, I believe this is a physical attachment - don't know for sure,

Thanks for the advice. It worked, but I don't recall which setting I changed. I can always count on this website for just about everything related to photography.
