Is your lens a K-mount lens?

You probably won't be happy with a state-of-the-art digital camera and your old lens because this lens would not cope with the resolution of a 20M sensor. Having said that, this lens would make great portraits on a APS (cropped) sensor as on the KS2. In other words, go for a kit which is proposed with the KS2 and keep the 50mm for this occasional use. I have not had the KS2 in my hands yet but I assume it will be a decent extension to the K50 range which is still an excellent price/performance body.

I personally doubt you want a manual lens to start with. Get the kit len with it.

There's a ton of things to learn and you don't want the added confusion.

Yes, it was on a ME Super someone gave me. I thought of ordering a MX or better a LX body form KEH,but just want to stick with digital medium...after shooting film and too many weddings ,I am now retired with vision issues. Thank you for the reply! :)

I use have slight vision problems with a manual lens so I stuck with the auto focus lenses.

If you or anyone else like their manual lenses, Ebay and other places sell a "45degree split-image focus screen" that has helped me a lot with focusing.

Even with auto focusing, there comes a time when you just have to manually do it.

That lens will work on the K-S2 exactly as it did on the ME Super - Pentax has been very good about that - but since the K-S2 is a crop-sensor camera, visually it will appear on the K-S2 the way an 80mm lens worked on the ME Super.

However, as others have commented here, I doubt you would want to save $100 by buying the K-S2 without a lens. The included 18-50mm lens appears to be very good. Under most circumstances, you'll be glad to have the auto-focus, and having the entire system being naturally weather resistant is a serious bonus.

Thank you for your imput. I am getting the kit,but just thought it might be fun to play around with that old lens. I never thought about the AF issue as hope the diopter will help and has focus peaking on that body.
