I am looking for a decent book to supplement the owners manual that might be more informative. Any suggestions
David Busch has written several different books for Nikon cameras that are very popular. I have his Nikon D7000 Guide and have been extremely pleased with it. Perhaps others can attest to the benefit of his D7100 Guide. Check reviews on Amazon. Good luck!

Dennis Thomas, and David Busch, both have very good "field guides". The full book by David Busch is one of the best, but large and heavy. The field guides are easy to carry with you, and there for, much more usable. I use them in conjunction with the owners manual.
I totally agree. The full Guide,as you know, did have more good info, but I don't carry it around! Still using both after more than a year!
I agree, David Busch's guides are very good. The Magic Lantern Guides are also good and more compact.

I suggest you take it to Staples or some other office supply store and have them cut the binding off and spiral bind it. Much easier to use.

That is one of the best suggestions I've heard in a long time. Would make it possible to hold your camera in both hands and read the book. Very good!!

Darrell Young, Mastering the Nikon D7100. I've had DY books for my last two cameras and they were excellent.
David Busch Nikon D7100 Guide to Digital SLR Photography is the choice for a lot of people
Also, if either of those is available in Kindle or Nook versions you could put them on your tablet and carry that with you in your bag. (I did that with my Gary Friedman guide to the Sony a6000 and it has been very helpful.)
