Mirror Lock up and ML-L3 Remote Nikon D3200

Hey guys, playing around with my D3200 and I've got a few questions. First, there is no setting for mirror lock up in the set up menu, just a cleaning option. Is the only option Live View? Second, Having set up back button focus and using the ML-L3 wireless remote the camera will try to autofocus when I depress the remote. Is there a way to turn this off besides shutting off the autofocus? Will the hard wired remote correct this?

Thanks for any input.

On the D3200 I believe the only option is liveview to get mirror lockup.

I only get the remote IR autofocus when I use Liveview....

Once BBF is on I get no half shutter press focus and no focus with IR remote when in viewfinder mode, BUT when in Liveview even with BBF I get focus before shutter trip when using the IR remote. I shoot with a D7100. Hard wired there is no auto focus when using BBF.

I know of no way to turn off the autofocus with IR remote when in Liveview.

Wired remote should allow you to BBF and NOT refocus when in Liveview.

Thank you, I hadn't tried the viewfinder with the IR remote. It doesn't autofocus with the D3200. I will pick up a hard wired remote and give that a shot.

Check to see if you have a shutter delay mode, which will almost do the same.

I recently found that with my 7100 in BBF & liveview mode, the IR remote caused the camera to refocus when used.

With Liveview and shutter button, no refocus, with viewfinder mode, no refocus with IR, and with wired remote, no refocus in any mode.

I would think the 3200 is the same, possibly all the DX's, or all Nikon's.

Good luck! Hope it works out.
